I am just about ready for tomorrow, yay. The ice on the sidewalk is still an undone task, though.

This is a disturbing article. I'm afraid it might be true.

Makes me wonder if my homeschooler grandson, who is really learning how to learn and how to love learning, will do better. Or maybe he'll just home school his way through college, too. There are so many resources on line these days that anyone who is interested in learning about something can find a way to do it there. The issue, I guess, will always be "credentials."

So true. Although I always found his insights interesting, I was never completely comfortable with Holt's view, that we are born loving to learn, then institutions crush the joy of learning out of us. But in recent years I have concluded that he is right! Home schooling used to strike me as odd at best - now I believe it is a wonderful choice.
